About Mingo Momma

Hey,there! I’m Stacie Sizemore, known as momma to my kids. I’m a house wife and homeschooler who dabbles in everything from cooking to gardening to photography to birding to, well, you get the picture.

I grew up in a little place called Martha with the woods in my backyard, friends just down the street, and the city life just a short drive away.

During college, I got a job as a server at the Cracker Barrell in Barboursville (our big city). Little did I know that it would be the best decision of my life. On my first day, I saw this super cute guy working in the kitchen, and I was hooked. I found out later that he had seen me, too, and was also hooked. I never really believed in love at first sight until then.

Anyway, a few months into working there, the super cutie finally asked me out. Three weeks later, we were engaged. One year after that, we were married. One year after we were married, we had our little boy. And a year later, we had our little girl. You get the picture…we like to take our time with things…haha!

(Here’s me and my hubby this winter)

So, my hubby got a wonderful teaching job offer in his hometown of Delbarton, and we packed up one month after our daughter was born and headed down to Mingo.

Now I’m down here in the country living the country life with my hubby and two kiddos…and loving every minute of it!

(Here’s my snow covered little town of Delbarton.)

I’ll be writing about my life in the country and all the things that are important to me. Hope you enjoy!

In Homeschooling! I’ll talk about the joys and rewards, and frustrations, of schooling my two little monkeys…I mean children!

(Speaking of my little kiddos…here they are covered in snow…cute, aren’t they?)

In Cooking, I’ll post recipes, fave cookbooks, and any other number of food related talk…I love food!

In Family, I’ll share little stories about those who mean the most to me…my family!

And in Gardening and the Home, well, you never know what I might talk about. I might list the joys of building your own home (haha), or post pics of my box gardens, or talk endlessly about birding, or the never finished task of decorating my home…this is kind of my pot luck section.

Hopefully, this will be a fun endeavor for me, the writer, and you, the reader. Here we go…

I am already your biggest fan, my amazing 1st cousin-in-law!

  3. Stacie,

    How are you?

Good news, I would like to personally hand you the “BEST MOMENT AWARD“. Congratulations and enjoy the rest of the day!

    All the best,
    Friend from Moment Matters

  4. Are you in Mingo County, West Virginia? I am originally from West Virginia and lived all over the state including Barboursville. My family is still there. I am now in Georgia. And, I am homeschooling my children too.

  5. You deserve more awards! I’m really enjoying your blog! I posted about it here.

  6. You worked at a Cracker Barrel? I’ve told myself we are stopping at one on our next road trip. I can’t believe I’ve been to forty-something states and seen hundreds of them but have still never been to a Cracker Barrel. My husband was never excited about making the stop. Boo. FYI, I worked at a Dunkin’ Donuts in my formative years. And, no, it was never time for me personally to make the doughnuts.
